Need a little inspiration for redesigning your existing garden or creating a new one?
Al’s Garden & Home has launched a new Design Inspiration Tool on its website that allows home gardeners to take pictures of their garden space and re-imagine it using different garden styles and plant selections curated by Al’s plant experts.
“We have been working with Plantista for a little over a year and launched it in its current form in August,” said Mark Bigej, co-owner and chief operating officer of Al’s Garden & Home.
The Design Inspiration Tool gives Al’s customers the ability to visualize what their home would look like with landscape enhancements. “We have provided several combinations of plants that we know work well here in the Pacific Northwest. We have curated collections based on an area’s sun exposure and the customer’s desired look,” Bigej said. “A customer can simply upload a picture of their house, input the sun exposure of the bed they want to landscape, and choose the style of a landscape they want. From there, they can select any or all of the plants that are suggested for that style. The result is an AI-generated image of what their house would look like with the chosen plants as a filled in landscape. The generated image even allows a customer to see what the landscape would look like during all four seasons of the year.”
“When the customer has created the design they like, they are emailed a shopping list with an image of each of the plants on the list,” Bigej said. “Coming soon, that list will be able to go directly to our e-commerce shop and help fill our customer’s cart.”
The new tool seems to be taking off with customers. “The number of designs created are growing daily and we are starting to see customers shopping our stores with their list in hand,” Bigej said. “One customer I talked to was delighted to find out that we curated every plant collection specifically with plants that will thrive in our area. She was relieved to know that, since AI designs can really be hit and miss with the plants they suggest.”
