When I hear the word “garden” I think of an ornamental—generally not a food producing—garden. One of the biggest trends in gardening is combining the beauty of the designed garden with food production. Last year at the Yard, Garden & Patio Show, Carol Senna, Melingo Studio Landscape Design, and Karen Schwartz, Calendula Gardens, designed a stunning Farm-to-Table garden. This year, Carol returns as the lead designer for the Urban Edible Garden to help all of us make edible gardening a joy. Artistic touches use reclaimed lumber. Perennial edibles and plants with which to make ambrosial teas are featured, as will beekeeping. See examples of raised beds, a chicken coop (and chickens), cold frame and tips for harvesting edibles year round.
