Take the time to put your garden to bed

September 27, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Fall is a great time to prepare for winter and set up your garden for success for the next growing season. Oregon State University Extension Master Gardeners invite you to attend Putting the Garden to Bed, a workshop that will share tips for landscape plants and discuss best practices for planting trees and shrubs, tasks to prepare the vegetable and fruit garden for winter, and techniques to protect the soil.

The workshop is 10 a.m.–noon Saturday, September 27 at Portland Community College Rock Creek Campus, 17705 N.W. Springville Road, Room 103.

The in-class session will be followed by a visit to the Washington County Master Gardeners Association Education Garden for a demo of tips including proper planting techniques. The group will then visit the Portland Community College Rock Creek vegetable and fruit garden to discuss techniques to prepare for winter. Helpful references will also be provided.

The session will be led by OSU Extension Master Gardener volunteers Fran Beebe, Lisa Hansen, and Sue Ryburn. The session is free and registration is not required.
