OSU Extension offers free nitrate screenings

Are you concerned about nitrates in your well water? Oregon State University Extension Service is offering a series of free nitrate screenings at farmers markets and other events throughout the state.
Just bring half a cup of well water in a clean cup to be tested. Testing takes about 10 minutes.
Nitrates can cause serious health effects, such as the rare blue-baby syndrome in infants, according to OSU Extension. It is important to test your well water for nitrates every 1–3 years, especially in homes with infants and pregnant women.
