Learn to make beautiful clay garden markers at Hoyt Arboretum

May 10, 2025 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

Create a colorful set of ceramic garden markers in this beginner-friendly clay workshop 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. May 10. Participants will turn a slab of clay into unique plant signs made just in time for summer planting.

Participants will use plants and leaves to create beautiful details. Then, use underglaze to add pops of color to their creations. Participants can plan on making up to eight garden markers. Your pieces will be glazed, fired, and returned at a later date.

The instructor is Angela Ruggles, a nature and art educator and certified yoga instructor. She is the founder of The Nature Atelier, where she explores art, movement, and the environment to inspire a passion for protecting the planet. Angela has a background in museum education and paleoethnobotany and is a self-taught artist. Hoyt Arboretum is in Washington Park in Portland, 4000 S.W. Fairview Blvd.

Space is limited; online registration closes May 9 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $60 for non-members and $55 for arboretum members. For more information or to register
