For the last 75 years, this venerable show has showcased great ideas for the garden and home. It has inspired garden enthusiasts, design lovers, home owners, remodelers, and local urban makers and home vendors, to unleash their creative side, providing a showcase for the latest tips and trends. This year’s version will be no different. Folks can explore vendor exhibits, learn through presentations and demonstrations, stroll the feature and competition gardens, buy plants and more. “Spring is the perfect time to put home and garden projects in motion, and the Portland Spring Home & Garden is the perfect spot to find inspiration, and meet the experts who can make it a reality,” show organizers stated in a press release.

In honor of the show’s 75th anniversary, there will be several new attractions that are sure to be highlights. One will be called “Portland’s Design District.” This feature exhibit will celebrate urban design, sustainable and high-performance home experts, custom home building and buying insights, as well as remodeling trends. It will have featured guests on the stage, and a stunning garden showcase.

Additionally, the show’s garden displays will include both a show feature garden and several competition gardens produced by area landscape designers and garden creators. The feature showcase garden this year will be designed by Pomarius Nursery and Moudurne Funktional Design. It will celebrate the “common space” through urban greenspace design, exploring the concepts of tranquil public spaces. Stroll through the rich, natural green community space all within the walls of the Expo Center. Guests will have the chance to meet the landscape designers, as well as product suppliers like Western Interlock who can help transform outdoor spaces into serene hideaways for all budget levels.

The show will offer these additional opportunities:

  • Meet expert remodeling and custom-building professionals in person — Spring is the perfect time to launch home and garden remodeling projects. While it’s a huge decision to invest the time, finances – and sometimes your sanity – to embark on the emotional rollercoaster of dismantling your home, the long- term benefits of remodeling your current space outweigh the hassle – and choosing the right remodeler matters. Meet professional remodelers face-to-face on neutral ground and engage with them to find that perfect fit to make your vision a reality.
  • Ask questions about custom homes, from financing to constructions. Visit vendors and meet the companies who can help provide insight and cost-saving ideas.
  • See professional demonstrations and presentations on the California Closet Stage. These will feature regional garden experts, remodelers, builders, designers and urban crafters and makers.Visit the show website at homeshowpdx.com and/or the show Facebook page for a list of speakers, times and details. Featured presenters and special guests will additionally be announced in early February on the event’s social media pages.
  • Enjoy kids’ activities, including the Little Gardeners and Builders area for aspiring little gardeners and future homeowners. Two life-size playhouses will be on display, built by students from Beaverton School’s Merlo Station Construction program. The playhouses will feature a paint scheme selected by experts from Miller Paint. This display will be in partnership with show producers, the Home Building Association and Foundation, which support local high school programs to encourage more young people to consider careers in residential construction. Proceeds from the sale of the playhouses will support the Beaverton Schools program.
  • Shop local artisans and makers’ handmade goods and plants for your spring yard refresh. Find items to take home on the spot! View spas and tiny homes in person, buy furniture, ask questions – it’s all there and available at the show. Beer, wine, spirits, treats, snacks and music will be on offer as well, so make a day of it with friends! So many exhibitors, vendors, and experts will be available at the show, ready to meet all of your home and garden needs.

The show is sponsored by Portland General Electric, California Closets, Pomarius Nursery, CARGO, Mercedes-Benz of Portland, the Oregon Association of Nurseries, Home Building Association of Greater Portland, Western Interlock, The Oregonian/OregonLive, Portland Expo Center, Marquis Spas, and Portland’s Design District.
