Discover the winter energy of trees

Winter draws us inward, and the trees do the same. In this season, evergreens become especially potent — their energy condensed, vibrant, and deeply palpable.
In this workshop from 1–3:15 p.m. on Saturday, February 28 at Hoyt Arboretum, participants will explore these winter currents through gentle Qigong, Tree Transformation Cards, and direct connection with three tree species: Douglas-fir, cedar (deodar, western red, and incense), and redwood.
Each tree has a distinctly different energy. Participants will receive simple guidance on how to meet a tree and experience the first moments when your energy naturally tunes to the tree’s steady, present frequency. The session will also touch on plant neuroscience — tree intelligence, sensory perception, and how trees respond to our presence.
During your time with the trees, you may feel an energetic or physical shift, gain clarity, or receive a message. These insights can be fleeting, so bring a way to record them. Trees are aware of us, and many people experience profound exchanges.
The instructor, Flora Rudolph, was an artist, designer, realtor, and spiritual explorer. In 2007, she was captivated by the powerful presence from a Douglas fir and became passionate about meeting trees.
After a life-changing experience, she visited the Hoyt Arboretum trees again asking for healing. Settling in the hornbeam grove, she was given the direction and peace needed and over the next several years received the Tree Cards.
She gives workshops on Forest Bathing and Meeting Trees, most recently at Skamania and Sitka, creates Self-Guided Forest Bathing Walks, gives readings, personal sessions in the trees, podcasts, and created an on-line course that is now available called Tree Speak! Read more at MeetingTrees.com.
Class size is limited; online registration is required. Tickets are $35, $25 for members. Registration will close February 28 at 10 a.m. Tree Transformation Oracle Cards are available for purchase inside the Hoyt Arboretum Visitor Center for $38.
Hoyt Arboretum is located at 4000 S.W. Fairview Blvd., Portland, Oregon, in Washington Park, about ½ mile from the Oregon Zoo. For more information, visit HoytArboretum.org.
