Cultural Demonstration: Bonsai, 1:15–2:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 25. Join Andrew Robson for a demonstration of Bonsai at the Cathy Rudd Cultural Corner in the Jordan Schnitzer Japanese Arts Learning Center. Bonsai, literally translated as “tree-in-a-tray,” is the art and science of miniature trees. Robson is a deciduous artist in the American bonsai community. He completed a 3-year apprenticeship with Michael Hagedorn, after graduating from Yale University. Robson is the President of the Bonsai Society of Portland, the largest bonsai club in the United States. Free with admission to garden.

Portland Japanese Garden is located in Washington Park at 611 S.W. Kingston Ave. and is open 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Wednesdays–Mondays. Last entry is at 5:30 p.m. and guests must leave by 6:30 p.m. Admission is $22.50, $19.50 for seniors 65 and over, $16.50 for youths age 6–17. Children under 5 are free.
