DESCRIPTION:Behind the Shoji: Annual Summer Marketplace\, June 21–September 1. For more than a decade\, Behind the Shoji has been one of Portland Japanese Garden’s most anticipated summer traditions. It’s an annual show and sale of Japanese and Japanese-inspired wares. Visitors can purchase from a variety of curated items that\, even with a trip to Japan\, might be difficult to come across. This garden is excited to be showcasing items that will bring the ingenuity and beauty of Japanese design to your home. Come by and peruse the stunning collection\, featuring furniture\, lighting\, and décor. Free with admission to garden. \nPortland Japanese Garden is located in Washington Park at 611 S.W. Kingston Ave. and is open 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Wednesdays–Mondays. Last entry is at 5:30 p.m. and guests must leave by 6:30 p.m. Admission is $22.50\, $19.50 for seniors 65 and over\, $16.50 for youths age 6–17. Children under 5 are free.

DESCRIPTION:The Oregon State University Extension Service is hosting garden tours in several locations this summer. Take advantage of them and tour gardens and gain inspiration for your next garden makeover or garden project. \nLebanon Garden Tour\, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Saturday\, June 21\, $20 cost. Tour a range of garden styles — from wedding-worthy to edible food bonanza — plus a rainwater-irrigated landscape and one yard with five different gardens. This will be primarily a walking tour so attendees are encouraged to park at Ralston Park\, where there will be maps available with a recommended walking guide. People can take any route they want\, and they can also drive to these gardens if they like. Along with the map\, there will be signage for all gardens. This year there are 7 gardens\, plus 2 bonus gardens (the two bonus gardens are not within walking distance). The tour starts at Ralston Park Historical Rose Garden\, 925 S. Park St. in Lebanon. Buy tickets \nDestination: Inspiration\, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. Saturday\, June 21\, free. Looking for fresh gardening ideas? Visit the Inspiration Garden in Independence for a guided tour filled with creativity and nature’s beauty. Bring the whole family to explore the garden\, enjoy interactive kids’ activities\, and spark your green thumb. OSU Master Gardener volunteers will be onsite to answer your questions and share about the plants in the garden. The Inspiration Garden is located at 799 F St. in Independence. \nHigh Desert Garden Tour\, 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Saturday\, July 19\, $15 cost.
