Admission will be $5 and parking at the fairgrounds will be free. \n“Don’t miss this Pacific Northwest favorite\,” organizers said in a press release. “Our nursery vendors have the best in annuals and perennials suited for growing in our area. We also host vendors that specialize in tools and other needs for your garden. And we can’t forget the garden art; craftsmen from our area bring in unique pieces to personalize your garden space.” \nThe fair offers plant taxis to expedite delivery to your car\, a free plant check\, the Ask a Master Gardener™ booth\, the 10-Minute University™ booth\, a New Plant Introductions feature with a silent auction\, a potting station with pots for sale\, and the popular Garden Fair Raffle. \nReturning will be the popular Exhibits Center in 4-H Hall with lots of great free information from local organizations\, free pH soil testing\, and of course free children’s activities for junior gardeners. DESCRIPTION:The Environmental Learning Center at Clackamas Community College is once again offering a free series of Zoom classes on wildlife-and-water-friendly gardens. \nBack by popular demand\, this series will provide tips on how to garden with less water\, manage too much stormwater\, and generally provide a healthier habitat for birds\, pollinating insects\, and more. Each week\, a different expert presenter will share their experience\, stories\, and best practices. There will be plenty of time for discussion\, so questions are encouraged. \nThe classes will take place from noon–1 p.m. Thursdays on Zoom\, starting January 26\, and all are free. DESCRIPTION:Plant Nerd Night is returning for 2023 with a new venue\, a new day of the week\, a new time — but one thing isn’t changing. \n“The name Plant Nerd Night is staying\, even though it is in the afternoon\,” head plant nerd Mike Darcy said. \nThe annual tradition\, where specialty growers give fun presentations on interesting and unusual plants\, will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday\, March 5 at Lake Oswego High School Auditorium\, 2501 Country Club Road\, Lake Oswego\, Oregon. Doors will open at 1 p.m. and those interested should line up ahead of time to be assured of a seat. The auditorium seats 640. That’s a little more than the prior venue\, which seated 500 and was always full. Admission is free. Participants get a goody bag that includes a FREE Retail Nurseries and Garden Centers Map\, courtesy of Plant Something Oregon and the Oregon Association of Nurseries. \nThe event is produced by Darcy in cooperation with the Hardy Plant Society of Oregon. “Without their cooperation and support\, Plant Nerd Night would never happen\,” Darcy said. Plant Something Oregon is on board as a sponsor of the event. \nThe event didn’t happen in 2021 or 2022 due to COVID-related restrictions. Organizers managed to pull it off in 2020 before COVID restrictions really took hold.
